About the Destination
Golf’s Best-Kept Secret.
Wales has some of the finest links in Britain, and far fewer visitors than its neighbours. The courses run along two coastlines. In the south, Royal Porthcawl sits on the Bristol Channel near Cardiff, with Pennard high on the Gower cliffs and Tenby on the Pembrokeshire coast. In the north, Royal St David’s lies beneath Harlech Castle, with Aberdovey and Nefyn close by.
We usually base a Wales trip around one coast. The south pairs easily with Celtic Manor and Cardiff, while the north takes in Snowdonia’s mountains and the quieter links of the west coast. We place you in golfer-friendly hotels near the courses, handle tee times and caddies, and arrange the driving between them. You simply play.

History
Where Championships Came to Wales
Royal Porthcawl, founded in 1891, has hosted more top championships than any other course in Wales. A young Tiger Woods played the 1995 Walker Cup there. Bernhard Langer won the Senior Open there twice, the first time by 13 shots in 2014. In 2025, Miyu Yamashita won the AIG Women’s Open at Porthcawl.
In 2010, Celtic Manor brought the Ryder Cup to Wales. Rain pushed the finish to a Monday for the first time, and Europe won when Graeme McDowell holed the decisive putt. In the north, Royal St David’s became the first Welsh club to be granted “Royal” status, and a future King Edward VIII once served as its captain.
Playing these courses, you’re walking fairways that few travelling golfers have discovered.

Beyond the course
More Than Golf
Wales gives your rest days plenty to do. In the south, Cardiff offers the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Castle and the waterfront at Cardiff Bay. The Gower Peninsula and the Pembrokeshire coast have some of Britain’s most beautiful beaches and cliff walks, and the harbour town of Tenby is a favourite stop.
In the north, Snowdonia’s peaks rise behind the links, and the medieval walled town of Conwy is an easy afternoon trip. Wherever you stay, an evening in a Welsh pub, with local ale and the sound of Welsh being spoken around you, is part of the experience.
